The acupuncture clinics at High Wycombe & Aylesbury are carried out by Dr. Hans Mathew, who is a Pain Specialist and Anaesthetist at the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Hospitals, working at High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospitals.

His special interest is in the use of medical acupuncture in pain management and other conditions.

Dr. Mathew did his medical training (MBBS) followed by a post graduate (MD - Anaesthesia) degree in Bangalore, India. He joined Wycombe hospital in 1996. Hans also has a Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) from the Royal College of Anaesthetists, London, Fellowship in Anaesthesia (FFARCSI) and Membership of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (MFPMRCA) at the Royal College of Anaesthetists. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Bucks New University.

He developed an interest in Western Medical Acupuncture as part of chronic pain management and introduced it to the chronic pain clinic at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust. He is a fully accredited member (DipMedAc) of the British Medical Acupuncture Society and sits on the BMAS Council. Hans has been practicing acupuncture for many years and has many publications and presentations in Pain Medicine, Anaesthesia and Acupuncture to his credit.
