Acupuncture for sports injuries

Even though many sports injuries may be trivial some may need active medical treatment and in recent years many sportspersons resort to acupuncture for pain relief and functional restoration.

Acupuncture is increasingly used by top sports players and athletes to treat musculoskeletal problems. More and more high-profile professional teams are employing their own dedicated professional acupuncturists both to treat an injury and to keep them performing at their peak. Musculo-skeletal pain or dysfunction can have an inhibiting effect on training and results. Acupuncture addresses these problems.

Electro-acupuncture treatment

I initially had electro-acupuncture treatment with Dr Mathew for right neck and arm pain in 2017. I had about 5-6 sessions of electro-acupuncture with good resolution of the pain and other symptoms. I was pain-free till March 2021 when the pain returned a had another few sessions, again with good benefit. Being a pain specialist, he was also able to titrate my pain medications, which I highly valued. He has pleasant mannerisms, calm and professional and I can’t recommend him highly enough.
